Indian Arrival Day 2024

On Monday, 6 May 2024, a national holiday in Guyana celebrating Indian Arrival Day (5 May 1838), Dr. Mirza I. Rahman, M.D., M.P.H., President of the Guyanese Diaspora Charity (GDC), along with his colleagues, Drs. Hollina Alfred, Oma Ramnarace, Allena Hercules, and several nurses and educators, including Ms. Marisa Joseph, Melaine Hilliman, Sherry Scott, Mandessa Ralph, and Corrine Allison Aaron, participated in a Medical Outreach program at the Heavenly Light Temple in Albouystown, Georgetown.

This event was co-sponsored by Dr. Alfred’s HolliCare Medical Services and the Guyanese Diaspora Charity. We were able to provide medical services & snacks to 40+ patients, including a few from Linden who were visiting for a dominoes competition that they won. A lovely day of service and fun, including a wonderful dinner later at the Hard Rock Cafe, facilitated by Fazil Mirza.

The GDC wants to express our gratitude to the entire team for participating in this event, all of which was led by the incomparable Dr. Hollina Alfred!
