Secretary/Director

Maya Z. Rahman is the Secretary at the Guyanese Diaspora Charity (GDC). After completing her bachelors and master’s at Temple University in biology and biotechnology, in five years Maya worked in the pharmaceutical industry. Her vast knowledge of assays, drug development and GXP helped her to become a well-rounded scientist. Now, Maya works as a technical sales specialist at Gamry Instruments. There she helps customers plan, design, and helps people around the world with their electrochemical experiments.

Additionally, Maya has danced for almost two decades in Bharatanatyam, a classical Indian dance form. She completed her arangaterm or solo debut in 2013. Since then, she has performed for a WHYY documentary, at the Philadelphia Sixer’s games, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, libraries and temples. Mixing her Indo-Guyanese background with her love of dance she has helped teach many students ranging from four to forties.

Maya looks forward to the progress within the GDC helping to impact people locally and globally. Everyday is a new day to help those in need. Whether it be mentoring the future generation, providing technical advice or organizing people, Maya is ready to make the GDC successful.
